Collection: Porcelain: Unique Pieces of Ceramic Art

Porcelain is one of the most beautiful and demanding ceramic materials to work with. Its purity, strength, and natural luminosity reveal a quiet elegance when handled with care. Through precision and control, I work with porcelain to create finely crafted pieces of exceptional delicacy — light, refined, and often almost translucent.

This body of work marks my transition from a career as a secondary school maths teacher to a more creatively focused life in the studio. It reflects a deepening exploration of clay and the possibilities of this medium. After many years working primarily with stoneware, this collection embraces the technical challenges of porcelain, a material that demands patience, adaptability, and a refined making process to achieve consistent results.

The techniques used in this collection push this clay body to its limits, creating eggshell-thin vessels that appear almost impossibly delicate. These forms are designed to capture and respond to light, revealing subtle translucency and quiet movement within the clay. Experimentation with different firing techniques introduces striking surface effects while also testing the resilience of these fragile vessels.

This ongoing exploration has involved months of refinement, experimentation, and discovery. The result is a collection of delicate yet expressive porcelain pieces — unique works of ceramic art that reveal new qualities of light, texture, and form from every angle.
